On the Course

A Legacy You Can Play On
Historic design. Modern challenge. Always in season.

Tucked into the heart of Spartanburg, our 18-hole championship course offers a playing experience that balances timeless design with year-round challenge. Originally crafted by Donald Ross, one of the most influential architects in golf, the course has hosted generations of members, rising junior players, and tournament champions. The routing favors strategy over distance, and the gently rolling terrain makes it both walkable and rewarding. This is golf that respects its past and plays beautifully into the present.

The Ross Legacy

The Country Club of Spartanburg’s 18-hole, par 72 course is a classic Donald Ross design, known for its walkability, smart routing, and subtle complexity. Over the years, it has been carefully updated to preserve its original character while enhancing play for today’s members. Rolling greens, tree-lined fairways, and strategic bunkers create a course that rewards precision and creativity.

Members enjoy access to multiple practice facilities, including a double-sided range, a short game area with varied turf conditions, and convenient warm-up spaces. These amenities support daily play, junior development, and serve as the home training ground for the Wofford College Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams.

Tournaments and Traditions

The Club has a proud tournament history, including the Peach Blossom LPGA Invitational, which brought many of the game’s greats to Spartanburg, and the prestigious Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational which continues to draw elite junior golfers from across the country.

Today, our course hosts a full calendar of member tournaments and is a cornerstone of competitive and social golf in the region.
