A Tradition of Play, Designed for Every Golfer

Golf at The Country Club of Spartanburg is rooted in history and played with purpose. The course delivers a championship-caliber experience shaped by the vision of Donald Ross and refined through decades of thoughtful stewardship. Whether you're teeing it up for a morning round, competing in a signature event, or passing on the game to the next generation, CCS offers golf that stays with you long after the final hole.

The Ross Legacy

Tucked into the heart of Spartanburg, our 18-hole championship course offers a playing experience that balances timeless design with year-round challenge. Originally crafted by Donald Ross, one of the most influential architects in golf, the course has hosted generations of members, rising junior players, and tournament champions.

The routing favors strategy over distance, encouraging thoughtful play and rewarding precision. With gently rolling terrain, mature trees, and classic green complexes, the course remains both walkable and engaging. This is golf that honors its past and plays beautifully into the present.

Sharpen Your Game

Members have access to a variety of practice spaces designed to support every part of the game. The Lake Forest Range serves as the hub, with a double-sided layout that includes a short game green and extended training space also used by the Wofford University golf teams. Nearby, a dedicated short game area adjacent to hole five features multiple turf varieties, allowing players to practice on surfaces that simulate real on-course conditions. For quick tune-ups or targeted reps, a short range beside hole eighteen offers a convenient option to stay sharp between rounds.

Whether you’re warming up for a tournament or dialing in your short game, CCS provides the space and variety to help your game grow.

Tournaments and Traditions

The Club has a proud tournament history, including the Peach Blossom LPGA Invitational, which brought legends like Babe Zaharias and Mickey Wright to Spartanburg, and the prestigious Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational, which continues to draw elite junior golfers from across the country.

This legacy continues to grow. In 2026, The Country Club of Spartanburg will serve as a host site for the BMW Charity Pro-Am on the Korn Ferry Tour, welcoming professionals, celebrities, and fans to our championship course.

Today, CCS maintains a full calendar of member events and continues to be a cornerstone of both competitive and social golf in the region.

The Next Generation

From beginner clinics to tournament play, the junior golf program at CCS introduces young players to the game with a balance of fun, fundamentals, and mentorship. Many of the Club’s juniors grow into competitive athletes, while others simply develop a lifelong connection to the sport.

The Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational serves as both a source of pride and inspiration. As one of the top junior tournaments in the country, it showcases the level of excellence that defines the golf experience at CCS.
